Dolphins of Glenan

Observations of dolphins were quiet rare between the Glenan’s archipelago and the coast, but become more and more regular. It is always a real pleasure to observe these benches of marine mammals, in some kind, our distant cousins, that are capable of moving in a group of several dozens. The show is complete when they begin to do some acrobatics, which only they know the technics.

The most observed species, in the zone, is the short-billed common dolphin, Delphinus Delphis. It is an oceanic and cosmopolitan creature, which we can find in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean but it also approaches coasts when it pursues the pelagic shoals of fishes (sardines, mackerel, horse mackerel).
