Quimper, City of Art and History

Quimper is the capital of the Cornouaille region and is considered one of the cities most rich in art and history. Indeed, its tiny narrow streets, half-timbered houses and its majestic Gothic cathedral, Saint Corentin, add to the charm of the old city.

The city was built on three rivers, the Steir, the Odet and the Jet. The heart of Quimper is located on the banks of the Odet, which you will be able to stroll along and admire.

Quimper has a strong Gallo-Roman past, which is why you will be able to discover the Ceramics Museum  in Locmaria (one of the districts of Quimper), with a  beautiful Roman church and its gardens along the riverside.

For nearly a century, Quimper has organized an annual festival in July to celebrate Breton traditions. From 21st  to 26th July this year, visit the city and come across numerous street shows, dances and parades.

Take advantage of your guided cruise along the River Odet to stop over in Quimper. Spend some time in the city and have a wonderful time!

To do so, please board our boat at the old fishing port, opposite Saint Thomas’ church.

If you want to travel from Quimper to Bénodet, please board at the port of Corniguel, located 3 km from the city centre. Departures depend on the tides and are possible from June to September.
